It’s been a cool three years since Octopath Traveler hit the Nintendo Switch eShop and with its immense success, it was clear this wouldn’t just be a one-off game but rather the start of a franchise.
During a celebration of the original game’s three-year anniversary, the game’s official Japanese Twitter thanked everyone for their support and congratulatory messages. To end their thank you message, though, they said the development is hard at work to ensure they can set off on a new adventure with their fans.
The development team will work hard so that we can set off on a new adventure with you all!!!

The concept of a sequel is far from new for the Octopath Traveler soon-to-be-franchise, back in October, Square Enix didn’t dismiss this idea, but put a damper on when it could be by mentioning a sequel to the game would “take a bit more time.”
This surprise hit from Square Enix, which uses their proprietary HD-2D style first designed for the game, takes heavy inspiration from classic RPGs and made from the same developer as other great RPGs doesn’t hurt either.
There isn’t any word as to when we could hear more about the game, but we can be at least assured this isn’t the end for the franchise.
