Before the release of Elden Ring, Japanese-language games publication, 4Gamer, interviewed Hidetaka Miyazaki, Elden Ring director and president of FromSoftware, about projects in 2018. At the time, they were working on three games, one of which ended up being Elden Ring.
In a recent interview with them, though, Miyazaki dished that they’re entering the final stages of another game just months after the mass success of Elden Ring. This different mysterious game was developed alongside the recently launched open-world Souls-borne entry. While nothing is official, it’s reported that a prime suspect for this new game is another entry to the Armored Core series.
If it is this mecha-shooter, this will mark its first outing since 2013. This is separate from Myiazaki saying he’s working on yet another game with a fantasy skew that doesn’t quite line up the same as previous FromSoftware games. Whatever the new game is, let’s hope it’s not going to find itself dragging its feet and sullying the stellar reputation and on-the-mark games they’ve been putting out.
We do want to temper anticipation as it’s important to remember that even if it’s reached the final stages, that doesn’t mean that it’s right around the corner, we could find ourselves hearing absolutely nothing for the next few months to even a whole year before FromSoft finally breaks the silence and reveals what this project actually is.
